February 25, 2017 Ponlok Khmer facilitated Access to Justice Committee (AJC) at provincial level to conduct meeting in Krong Preah Vihear, Preah Vihear province. The meeting aimed at collecting and discussing the issues of land and natural resources management and strengthening the roles of AJC. There were 24 (4 women) participants including AJC at provincial and commune levels attended the meeting.
As the results of meeting, there were four main issues raised up by AJC at commune level 1) illegal logging activities happened in Preah Rokar Wildlife Sanctuary and Community Forestry (CF) and Community Protected Area (CPA) sites, 2) illegal fishery, 3) the land deputes between insiders with outsiders of villages and 4) there were many woodcrafts in the villages are working.
In the other hand, the AJC also shared their efforts and experiences on conflict resolutions which have been done through using their knowledge of alternative depute and resolution.
Response to the issues, the AJC at provincial and commune levels together planned to take a part in conflict resolutions which are possible such as conduct awareness raising related to land and natural resource management as well as provide the relevant legal material and participate to observe any cases of conflict resolutions if it is required and invited.
